Valencia Moorish History Tour

The Moors were the Muslim people of present-day Morocco who ruled parts of Spain for over 700 years. They were present in the Valencia area for 500 years, so they indelibly left their mark on our city, culture, and food.

This tour focuses on this prosperous time in Valencian history and many sites that demonstrate its grandeur such as the Arabic baths, the L’Almoina museum with Moorish ruins and artifacts, the old grain storage or Almudin and Plaza de la Virgen. Depending on the length of your tour, we can taste typical Moorish food – such as cous-cous at a local Moroccan restaurant with an Arabic tea class – and explore Moorish recipes that are prominent in Spanish cuisine today.
