The paella cooking class is usually an add-on to one of our tours, such as our Valencia Highlights Tour or our Full-Day City Tour, however, if the timing is right, we can arrange this class and a stand-alone experience. The cooking class is private, unless otherwise discussed and is usually carried out by Valencian paella aficionado and husband of Valencia Private Tours owner Sarah-Kate, Vicente, who was a ‘foodie’ before there was such a word.
The paella cooking process is a 2 – 3 hour interactive workshop of a traditional Valencian paella, made with chicken and rabbit. Vicente will guide you through each step and teach you the family secret (shh!) of this edible work of art. Many Valencians have made paella every Sunday of their life, but still don’t have the tricks down, as it is truly an art to pull this very famous and tricky dish off.
Other paella types may be requested- but the chef may not accept them. This is a true Spanish cuisine snob who wants our guests only to go away with the best. You will also craft a couple of appetizers, Sangria or “Agua de Valencia”, and a dessert. You will go home not just with a full belly, but an apron, as well, to remember you of your experience with us.
