Valencia’s best with authentic Spanish lunch
You will be able to tick off all of Valencia’s must-sees, by the end of this well-packed tour. By car, we see the beautiful beach area, the new America’s Cup Port area, the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences, designed by Valencia’s own Santiago Calatrava and our medieval gates. Other treats we will either pass by or have picture stops for and learn about will be our main plazas, our Bull Ring and other architectural delights in this beautiful city such as the city hall or our Modernista-style train station. The route we use makes the most out of your time here, so even if something isn’t particularly to your interest, wait a minute and you will see something else! As this is a private tour only for you and your party, we can stop as little or as much as you want for pictures of you or if you need a shopping or cafe break.
We will also explore the secrets of our pedestrian historical center including Roman ruins, our Cathedral area, the Lonja Silk Exchange (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and our wonderfully large Central Market as on of the largest of its kind in Europe, adding to our ‘foodie’ nature here. Strolling through this ‘Gothic Quarter’ you will feel the quaintness of Valencia still, even in this modern era and on every street corner there are interesting historical, cultural or architectural points to enlighten you on.
This tour generally includes entrances to two of the main monuments of your choice, depending on our timing specifics, though we highly recommend the Lonja Silk Exchange because of its unique relationship to Valencia and the world. Other popular choices are the Roman ruins at the L’Almoina Museum, the Valencia Cathedral, Basilica or the Marquis of Dos Aguas Palace. We will generally see all or most of these with a briefer stop regardless, depending on our time. We get as much as we can in, without feeling rushed and still being able to take the city in and stop at places you may want to.
As Spain’s third largest city, you can see there is certainly plenty to keep you intrigued here beyond the city’s must-sees. If you have a full day to spend with us, we would love to take you to our favorite places in Valencia and introduce you to the Spanish lifestyle with our favorite meal of the day: lunch.
There is a saying in Spanish that “we can not speak without a table between us”. Indeed, most of our conversing done in Spain, is over the lunch table, between generally between 2-4 every day. For your tour, you can choose a quick and light lunch stop of tapas – although that is more typical of dinner here rather than lunch – or you can choose an authentic Spanish dish, such as the Valencian paella or any other of our rice specialties here with excellent quality to price ratio. We know lots of places that have excellent dishes for great value and will be happy to build that into your itinerary or we can play it by ear, as per your wishes. You can choose to have Kate or your guide if that is the case, join you for lunch, to help order and recommend for you and chat about the culinary idiosyncracies here or to pick you up afterward, depending on your wishes. If you are a true “foodie” and would like a Michelin Star restaurant experience, your guide can make the reservation for you in one of our four Michelin* restaurants and leave you there for a delightfully affordable Michelin experience.
Remember, this is a private itinerary just for you so we can make your day as full or as relaxed as you like!
*Please note that this tour includes 1 – 2 hours of walking in the historical center generally, but we can either help you with a wheelchair if necessary or tweak the itinerary to see more sites by car, outside of Valencia. Please let us know if you have mobility issues and we would be happy to customize your tour to fit your needs.
